Giving tech support

Last saturday I was on the phone giving some tech support to a very close friend. The conversation went something like this:

- Yeni, move the pointer mouse over the icon and do a right click. Did the icon changed color?
- Yes.
- Now without releasing the mouse button, try to move your mouse. Did the icon moved?
- No.

It was a very difficult situation, specially because I was trying to explain how to show your hidden files in Windows Vista, but my friend Yeni didnt told me in first place this was the original request. At the end, I end it up saying:

- Ok, Yeni, How many icons do you see in your window?
- 24.
- How many icons supossedly you should see?
- A lot more.
- Ok, you have some hidden files then.

To make things worst, i dont have Vista in my PC, so I was kinda giving directions in "blind mode", I mean, I recall some basic setup from Vista didnt changed to much from XP, so I used my PC for orientation.

Finally, all the files and configurations were successfull.

Ahhh, the joys of tech support...
